Privacy Policy
PitchLoft ("we," "us," or "our") helps student founders discover non-dilutive funding. This policy explains what we collect on our waitlist and how we use it. This is not legal advice; it describes our current practices for the pre-launch waitlist.
1. What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we ask for:
- Full name
- School email address (must end in .edu)
- School / university name
- City and U.S. state
We may also automatically receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and approximate location derived from IP, especially if we use analytics tools (see below).
2. Why we collect it
- Waitlist & launch updates to confirm you joined and email you when PitchLoft opens or shares important product news.
- Personalization: city and state let us tailor which grants, pitch competitions, and school resources we show you when the product launches. We also gather public funding listings separately.
- Student priority: .edu email helps us prioritize student founders for early access.
- Product improvement: aggregate, de-identified patterns (e.g. interest by state) may guide what we build first.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Where we store it & who helps us
Waitlist submissions are stored in a database hosted by MongoDB Atlas. The site is hosted on Vercel. We may sync your email and related waitlist details to Brevo so we can send you product updates. If Google Analytics is enabled, Google may process analytics data as described in Google's policies.
These providers act as service providers / processors for operating PitchLoft. They are not intended recipients for marketing your data to third parties.
4. Cookies & analytics
We may use Google Analytics (or similar) to understand traffic and campaign performance (including paid ads). Analytics tools often use cookies or similar technologies. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Turning off cookies may limit some measurement features but will not block the waitlist form itself.
5. Emails & communications
By joining the waitlist, you agree we may email you about PitchLoft launch access, product updates, and related student-founder funding news. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails or by contacting us (below). Transactional or waitlist-status messages may still be necessary to operate the list.
6. How long we keep data
We keep waitlist records until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them for launch and product purposes (for example after you create an account, or if we shut down the waitlist). Aggregate analytics may be retained longer in de-identified form.
7. Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails using the link in those messages when we send them.
California residents may have additional rights under state privacy law (e.g. to know, delete, and opt out of sale/sharing). We do not sell personal information. If that changes, we will update this policy.
8. Children
PitchLoft is aimed at college and university student founders. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reputable infrastructure providers and industry-standard safeguards (including encrypted connections). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as PitchLoft grows (for example when accounts or a resources product launch). We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, may notify waitlist members by email when appropriate.
